Marylene "Mary" Barrient Crawford

Marylene “Mary” Barrient Crawford passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at the age of 83. She was the beloved mother of Jan Crawford, loving sister of Sandra Gauthier (the late Henry) and the late Kenneth (Kenny) Barrient. She was a devoted aunt and godmother of Shannon Gauthier. She was preceeded by her parents the late Joseph and Lena Barrient. She is survived and fondly remembered by many cousins, relatives, and dear friends. The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to Susan Gauthier for her patience, exceptional care, and for the special bond that she and Mary shared.

Mary was born on March 15, 1939, in Whitehall, LA. She was a longtime resident of New Orleans before settling in St. Bernard Parish. Mary appreciated the comforts of home and was grateful to Susan for encouraging her move to Arabi. Her career spanned over 30 years as a loyal and dedicated financial consultant for the City of New Orleans. She truly enjoyed life through simple pleasures of music, movies, and Popeye’s fried chicken on Saturdays. She absolutely adored anything and everything Elvis; highlighted by her memorable tour to Graceland! She was also an enthusiastic Saints fan! Her favorite player, much like most fans, was our “GOAT”, Drew Brees. Mary will always be remembered for her friendliness, feistiness and her devotion to her friends and family. She will be deeply missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, July 9th, 2022 from 9:00AM – 11:00AM, followed by a Memorial Mass in her memory beginning at 11:00AM. She will be laid to rest in St. Vincent de Paul Mausoleum in New Orleans, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation, www.bbrfoundation.org or the Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement, www.thewomensalzheimersmovement.org are preferred.
