Matthew "Mike" J. Carderara Sr.

Matthew "Mike" Joseph Carderara, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021. He was 81 years old. He was the devoted husband of Carolyn Gauthreaux Carderara. Loving father of Matthew J. Carderara, Jr., Phillip T. Carderara (Kelly), and the late Christopher J. Carderara. Proud grandfather of Ryan (Rachel), Kristy (John), Brittanie, Matthew III (Britney), Cameron, Evan, Landon, and Aiden. Great-grandfather of Maddie, Aleah, Jaxson, and Dexter. Brother of Josephine Carderara. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Janie Recatto Carderara and the late Chris Carderara.

Mike graduated from Chalmette High School in 1960, before proudly serving his country in the U.S. Navy, for 6 years. After leaving the Navy, he enjoyed a 45-year career as a route salesman for Kemp's Ice Cream. Mike loved taking trips to the Gulf Coast Casinos and taking cruise ship vacations with his wife and family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, July 5, 2021, at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. VIRTUE STREET, in Chalmette, from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM. A funeral mass will be held in his memory at 11:00 AM. He will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens, with military honors.
