

Nancy Gallo Ketry passed away peacefully on Friday, October 22, 2021. She was 95 years old. Nancy was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 50 years, John M. Ketry; her parents, Walter Gallo and Josephine Basile Gallo; her sister, Rose Gallo Taaffe; her brother, Charles F. Gallo; John M. Ketry’s son, John J. Ketry; her nieces, Patricia Gallo Frey, Charleen Gallo and Deborah Taaffe; and her grandson, Edmond Barras. She is survived by John M. Ketry’s daughter, Paulette Ketry Barras (Edmond); her nieces, Cynthia Gallo Gagnon (Don) and Judy Gallo; her nephew, Eddie Taaffe; as well as three grandchildren, Pam Barras, Alisha Ketry and Erin Ketry; one great-grandson, Adam Barras; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Nancy graduated from Soule College and began her career at Antoine's Restaurant in 1946. Nancy met her husband, John, at the French Quarter landmark and served on staff for 48 years, retiring in 1994 as the Office Manager. Nancy spoke fondly of her time and second family at Antoine's. She enjoyed baking, singing and had an incredibly infectious sense of humor. Nancy will be remembered most for her generosity and joyful spirit.
Originally from St. Bernard Parish, Nancy moved to Hammond after Hurricane Katrina. In her later years, she was cared for by her devoted niece, Cynthia Gallo Gagnon, and her nephew, Eddie Taaffe, who will miss her dearly. The family would also like to thank St. Anthony's Garden in Covington and Notre Dame Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 11:30 AM -1:30 PM.
