Robert Forrest Angle (Bob), 84, born on February 19, 1933 and passed away peacefully in his home on the morning of May 22, 2017. He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Joyclyn Forster Angle; children Donald Forrest and Steven Forrest Angle and Ann Marie Angle Sauer (Missy); his adored grandchildren Ryan, Michael, Alycia, and Jonathan Angle; his loved sisters and brothers-in-law. Born and raised in Piedmont, CA, he was the adopted son of Captain Milton Forrest Angle USN and Hazel Faye Angle (both deceased). Bob served as a ‘radar technician’ in the Air Force. He met his beloved wife in 1952 in New Orleans while stationed at Keesler Air Force Base. The young couple was later stationed in France. Upon separation from the Air Force the couple relocated to New Orleans. Bob was a dedicated family-man as he was involved in his children and grandchildren’s activities. He was a Cub Scout leader, New Orleans Recreation Department (NORD) coach including the all-star NORD Saints. He coached hundreds of New Orleanian youth in football, baseball, and softball throughout the 1960s and 70s. His former athletes still reminisce about the toughness of “Coach Angle” as well as the positive impact he had on their lives. Many of those ‘kids’ have become political, business, and religious leaders in the New Orleans community. He owned and operated “We Never Close Food Stores” for 28 years before retiring. Bob had a passion for adventure as well as challenge and traveled worldwide including China immediately after President Nixon’s rapprochement in the 70s. He held a 200 ton captains license and voyaged the high seas in his boats with family and friends. Bob knew how to work hard and enjoy himself and he lived life to the fullest. He believed he led an extremely “lucky” and adventurous life. He was a Mason.
