

Rose Gallo Taaffe passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at the age of 87 at the Richard Murphy Hospice House in Hammond, LA. She was the cherished wife of over 50 years to Edward J. Taaffe Jr. Loving mother of Edward J. Taaffe III and her precious daughter, the late Deborah Rose Taaffe. Mother-in-law of the late Timi Day Taaffe. Daughter of the late Bartolo “Bat” and Josephine Bazile Gallo. Sister of Nancy Ketry and the late Charlie Gallo. Proud grandmother of Tonya Taaffe Bode, Jeff Edward Taaffe and the late Spencer Day Poché. Great-grandmother of Justus M. Taaffe and Marign M. Taaffe. She is also survived and fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, great-great-grandchildren and many close friends. Rose was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish before settling in Hammond, LA following Hurricane Katrina. While living in the parish, she enjoyed a long career as co-owner and founder of Taaffe’s Hogs Head Cheese Company. She was a dedicated and loving mother, our personal master chef and a friend to many. She will be missed by all who were touched by her love, kindness, laughter and compassion. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Thursday, October 8th from 10:00AM – 12:00PM, followed by a Funeral Mass beginning at 12:00PM. She will be laid to rest, together again with Edward and Deborah, in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
