Alice was born in Port Jefferson, New York to Edwin and Ruby Edwards. Alice grew up on a dairy farm in Port Jefferson where, one day in school, she met Leon Kempster.
They surprised their families by eloping in 1956. Over time they had two kids. After a family tragedy, they moved to Arizona, where they worked farming hay for many years.
Alice will be remembered for being fiercely independent, hard working but also very giving.
The last of her generation, she is survived by her daughter, Donna Kempster, and grandson Kyle Fillippo.
Meeting Alice in heaven are her husband Leon, her son James Kempster, her brother William Edwards as well as her parents.
