

She married the love of her life Stanley Max Huston on her 18th Birthday “So her mother couldn’t have it annulled”, as she always to tell. They remained married for 71 years until Stanley’s death.
During WWII she had several jobs in Des Moines while her husband was overseas. Her last jobs were in Burlington, Iowa at the Burlington arms plant. She worked on the atomic energy line. She then was the first meter maid in Ft. Madison, Iowa. She liked to tell the story that as the fine was .25 she soon became known as “the 2 bit street walker.”
When she and her husband retired they moved to Sun Lakes, AZ
Barbara was a life member of the Eastern Star, a DAR Member, a member of Union Presbyterian Church in Ft. Madison and also the Sun Lakes United Church of Christ.
Barbara lived at home and was cared for by her daughter Georgia Ames and Infinity Hospice Care.
Barbara and Stanley had 2 children, Georgia Huston Lawrence Ames and Stanley Max Huston Jr. She was predeceased by her husband, and two granddaughters, Stacie Lawrence and Heather Huston.
Barbara had 2 two granddaughters, Lynette Gattlieb and Pamela Shearer, Also grandchildren Butch Huston and Kelly Huston. She had five great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Union Presbyterian Church in Ft. Madison, Iowa and Sun Lakes United Church of Christ in Sun Lakes, Arizona
