We celebrate the life of Bonnie Dursi Shapiro, who was a kind and caring wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. On Monday, November 14, 2022, our beloved Bonnie passed away surrounded by loved ones after a long and courageous battle against breast cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Ellis Bogenholm, and beloved husbands, John Dursi, Jr. and Milton “Mike” Shapiro. Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Susan (Joelle) Pfeiffer; her brother, Carl Bogenholm; and nieces Heather Villanueva (husband Matthew and daughter Annabella) and Holly Bogenholm. Additionally, Bonnie had many extended family members and innumerable friends who loved and cared for her deeply.
Bonnie worked in sales before founding and running her own company for several decades. She was creative and loved arts, crafting and was passionate about flowers and gardening. In 2019 Bonnie fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a dog owner. Lily, a feisty Cockapoo, brought her great joy and companionship for several years, and she made incredible friendships through her adventures with Lily.
Bonnie will be forever remembered as a generous soul who was a light in the lives of people she met. She took the time to get to know people and always made friends easily wherever she went. Bonnie was a strong Christian and was guided by her spiritual faith. Bonnie’s most sincere wish was that we celebrate her life with the joy and love she brought to it.
Bonnie’s celebration of life will be held at Valley of the Sun Mortuary in Chandler, AZ on December 4th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. A gathering will begin at 10:00 a.m. There will be an additional celebration of life in New York at a future date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Gary Sinise Foundation, Tunnel to Towers Foundation or your local animal shelter.
