Brian was raised in Kingman, Kansas, on the Thissen family farm with five brothers and sisters. He travelled to Phoenix, Arizona in the early 80’s, where he met Therese, who would become his wife years later. They spent their youth joking with each other on long drives as process servers. Years later, they were reunited and were happily married for 19 years. Brian’s love for life was contagious, spreading positivity through his endless pool of jokes and tomfoolery. He is cherished for his love of learning and science, as well as his appreciation for historical fiction, music, and folklore.
Brian is survived by Therese Thissen; his children, Krystal Lashley, Crowe Barton, and Rachel Buttenhoff; and his grandchildren, Luna and Rexford. He is also survived by Kathryn J. and Teresa Kay of Kingman, Stephen J. of Kingman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Marjorie Thissen, his beloved aunts, Helen and Marie Anderson, and his brother, Timothy.
