Denise Yurek, "The Queen," passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, surrounded by her loved ones. She was just 36-years old. Denise was born and raised in Wisconsin and lived in Arizona for the last several years of her life. She loved Italy, having travelled there often, and had hoped to live there one day. Her incredible strength, confidence, and sense of humor contributed greatly to her battle with cancer, all the way through to the end of her life. Denise was a talented artist, fantastic cook, passionate marketing coordinator, and dedicated friend to all who knew her. She is survived by her father, William Yurek, mother, Susan Yurek, sister, Beth Phelan, and her beloved cat, Bugsy. Memorial services for Denise will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, July 16th at the Valley of the Sun Mortuary, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Rd. in Chandler. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to Cancer Treatment Centers of America and Hospice of the Valley, both of whom contributed greatly to Denise's last year of life.
