He leaves behind his wife of nearly 35 years, Betty (Adcock) Jorgensen; his daughters, Karen and her husband Ron, Kathleen, and Sheri and her husband Duane; his sons, Kurt and his wife Mary, and Bill and his wife Justina; his grandchildren, Eric, Aron and his wife Anna, Amber and her husband Jeffrey, Julia, Matthew and his wife Haley, Dale, Chelsea and her husband Chris, Michael, Katie and her husband Forrest, Jennifer, Michael, Alexandria, and Luke; six great grandchildren (a seventh on the way); and many close friends.
He is preceded in death by his son, Keene; his daughter, Christy; and his parents, Dagmar and Chris.
Born in Brighton, Colorado, he was raised on a large hog farm owned by his father and mother. After graduating from Adams City High School in 1944, he attended the University of Colorado where he played basketball. After two years of college, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he was sent to Vienna, Austria to serve his country.
Upon his return from overseas, he met and married Merle Kline and had four children. He began his own hog farm, Jorgensen Livestock Company, in Brighton, Colorado where he was an active member of the Hog Growers Association. In 1981, Merle passed.
Thankfully, he was introduced to Betty by mutual friends during a trip to Arizona and asked her hand in marriage in June 1982. A seamless transition of two large families occurred and Betty has been the best mom, grandma, and great grandma anyone could have hoped for.
He and Betty moved to Arizona shortly thereafter where he studied to become a real estate broker. He took pride in owning his own realty business and truly relished the friends he made during his time in business.
He was very active in the community. Throughout his life, he was involved in organizations such as the Lions Club, Kiwanis International Club, Masonic Lodge of Colorado, the Danish Brotherhood, and a volunteer for the Girl Scouts.
An avid golfer, he and Betty would play almost daily. They shared in a mutual enjoyment of card games and met with friends each month to play. During the latter years of his life, he became active in fantasy baseball and enjoyed competing with his friends.
A memorial service will be held on June 24 at 11 am. The service will be located in the chapel at Sun Lakes United Methodist Church (9248 Riggs Road).
