On St. Patrick’s Day, Mom peacefully entered Heaven, her daughters by her side. After a recent fall, Mom knew that she would be leaving us soon. Though we thought she would rally, her body was just too frail. Mom—Lois Patricia Trimble—was born on April 10, 1928 to Vera (Bigelow) and Donald Barlow in Nampa, Idaho. After moving around a bit, her family settled in Benicia, CA, where she attended and graduated high school. After living a number of years in Barstow, CA, where she worked and raised us. She and her mother, Vera Barlow, lived again in Benicia until 2002, when she moved to Middleton, ID, where she was cared for by daughter Alice. In June 2013, she moved to Maricopa, AZ, to be cared for by daughter Vera. Mom had a great work ethic, doing her best, for years, as a housekeeper to support her children. Her grandmother, Anna, taught her to embroider, a skill that lasted near a life time and gave her much joy. Though, in recent years, her sewing was bit wild-looking, her embroidered gifts were cherished. (Thanks, Joyce, for keeping her needle moving.) She also was an avid reader and enjoyed baking. The thing that brought her the greatest joy was attending St. David’s Episcopal Church in Caldwell, ID, where she felt like family. Our sincerest gratitude goes out to the congregation for their love and attention to her on Sundays. Mom was preceded in death by her parents and only sibling, Don Barlow, Jr. She is survived by us, daughters Alice Millington (John) and Vera Martz (Fred); grandchildren, Joey (Alvarez) Koehler, husband Karry, of Maricopa, AZ; Jennifer (Millington) Sowers, husband Tom, of Boise, ID; Richard Millington and wife Kiley, of Boise, ID; great-grandchildren: Christian, Shyra, Aric, Anna and Raemi; and, great-great-grandson, Dawsen James. To her church friends, Ruth, Ione, Luise, and D’aray, and cousin Kay, thanks for the letters; Mom hung on every word and re-read them again and again. To Joyce Oswald and Kathrine Kuntz, we are most grateful to you for your thoughtfulness. Joyce, Mom’s life was enriched by your care and company and friendship. Kathy, Mom loved your letters and gifts—the biggest gift was your life-long friendship. A sincere “Thank you” from us.
Rest in peace, Mom. Wir lieben euch.
