Louis was a career educator and coach. He graduated from Central High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Omaha; now named the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
At CHS (Class of 1958), Lou was an outstanding halfback on his senior-year football team that shared a state title with two other schools; however, his accomplishments as a CHS wrestler surpassed even his football accomplishments as he compiled a 75-5-1 record, winning two state titles, three All-Metro titles, and being chosen as the team’s most outstanding wrestler. At Omaha University, Lou continued his remarkable success, three times earning All-Conference football honors, and as a senior, his team won the CIC Title and the All-Sports Bowl with Lou being chosen co-captain. In wrestling, Lou compiled a 39-3 record, was selected as the university’s Athlete of the Year in1962, and was inducted into both the university’s Wresting Hall of Fame (1998) and its Athletic Hall of Fame (2002). At Westside High School, where Lou was its wrestling coach and teacher over a 36 year career, his wrestling teams won16 District Team Championships, 2 Class A State Championships, compiled an overall record of 244-88-7, and had 24 individual state champions. Because of the leadership which Lou provided for high school and youth wrestling, he was inducted into the Metro Coaches and Officials Wrestling Hall of Fame (1985), the Nebraska Scholastic Wrestling Coaches Association, and the Omaha Westside Alumni Association’s Athletic Hall of Fame.

The Westside Foundation & The Louis J. Miloni Legacy Fund:
The Westside Foundation raises private funds to support the continuing improvement of educational programs offered by Westside Community Schools. The Foundation provides student scholarships, teacher recognition, classroom grants, facilities improvement, and other support where tax dollars are not available. Supporters and donors include alumni, district residents, businesses, teachers, staff, parents, and friends who share a belief that a strong public education is essential to the quality of life and future well being of our community.
Over the past 10 years the Foundation has raised money to renovate the football stadium, build tennis courts, a new baseball field and update the auditorium at Westside High School, and add a new auditorium at Westside Middle School.
In 2014, the Foundation raised $800,000 for the new Westside stadium entrance project and Champions Plaza. The new stadium entrance includes new restrooms and concessions stand, ticket booth and a picnic area. Champions Plaza recognizes all the state champion teams and athletes, as well as honoring Tom Pate with a memorial. These improvements benefit the District and the metropolitan area as they provide top-notch facilities for numerous local, state and national events. For example, several of the College World Series teams have practiced on the Westside baseball field, as well as football teams such as USC utilizing the football field.
