Marilyn D. Tobie Hayes

passed away peacefully on July 30, 2013 at the Hospice of the Valley, Dobson House in Phoenix, AZ. Marilyn was the daughter of Fenton and Minnie Tobie from Lisbon Falls, Maine. She was proceeded in death by her sister Betty Beganny and her dear husband Edward R. Hayes to whom she was married for 49 years. She is survived by her son Edward R. Hayes Jr. (Claire) and daughter Tobie Hayes Sasser (Stephen); grandchildren Lauren Sasser McCulloch (Scott), Jeffrey William Hayes, Charles William Hayes, and Edward R. Hayes III. Great grandson John Edward McCulloch (15 months) was the new joy in her life.

Marilyn graduated from the University of Maine in 1947 with a BS in Nursing. She was an RN and worked as a school nurse in Chicago and also for Shriner's Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. Marilyn and family lived in Ithaca, NY; Gary, Indiana; Midland, TX; Chicago, IL; Houston, TX and Salt Lake City, UT. They retired to Sun Lakes in 1987 and made many great friends.

Marilyn was a wonderful mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor. Always full of energy, she loved to sew, knit, crochet, garden, snow ski, golf, play bridge, play Mah-Jong and enjoy life. She was active in AAUW. She was a lot of fun and will be greatly missed.

The family wishes to thank the Hospice of the Valley, Dobson for their gentle care.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 12:00 noon at the Sun Lakes United Church of Christ. A reception will follow.
