Marjorie (Marge or Margie) Arlene Voth (nee Skog) passed away peacefully on 7/9/23 with her family present. Marge was born 7/21/1931 in the small town of Red Wing, Minnesota. She was raised on a farm with her sisters and brother. In high school, Marge and her younger sister were sent by her parents, to attend Minnehaha Academy, a top college prep school in the big city of Minneapolis. Marge lived near the school during the week and came home weekends. She was lonely for her family and could hardly eat sometimes. Marge was grateful to her parents for providing her with this educational opportunity and she studied hard, leading her to graduate as the Valedictorian. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in education at the University of Minnesota, where she met John Wesley Voth her husband-to-be. John realized immediately that if he wanted to date Marge, he needed to meet her at the library and study with her, which improved his grades as well. They married in 1954 and raised three children. During her years as a young mother, Marge served as a minister’s wife in several Presbyterian churches. Later on, Marge longed to live in the west, and in 1973 she and John moved their family to Arizona to live near John’s brothers. Marge returned to college while working as a full-time teacher and earned two master’s degrees from Arizona State University, one in educational learning disabilities and the other in counseling. Her final working years were as a high school counselor which she enjoyed. In retirement, Marge loved to travel. She and John visited many places overseas and also enjoyed numerous trips in the U.S. and Canada in their much loved RV. On those trips she loved hiking and was known as a climbing goat to the family. Marge was also fascinated with her family history; her careful research on her father’s lineage led her to locate her many cousins in Sweden. She and John enjoyed several trips to Sweden and hosted her cousins in her home in Arizona more than once. Marge is survived by her husband, John Voth, her children, Sheree Perry, Shaun and Sheila Voth, her grandchildren, Nick and Jake Perry, her siblings, Evie Pearson, Ardy Young and Lee Skog, and numerous Swedish cousins. She was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Skog, her parents, Paul and Ester Skog and her brothers in law, Jim Young and Don Pearson as well as several Swedish cousins. Marge was kind and loving yet strong-willed and feisty. She will be missed greatly by her friends and family.
