Mike Wirth passed away on Easter Sunday after suffering a major stroke on April 7, 2022. Ironically, Mike was also born on Easter Sunday. He was an Arizona native and went to Greenway High School in Phoenix, joined the Navy after graduation, served for 6 years, then attended ASU where he received his master’s degree in engineering. He was an Electrical Engineer for 27 years at Comtech in Tempe and most recently employed at Viasat, also located in Tempe with plans to retire in December 2022. Mike lived in Sun Lakes with Chris Anderson. They were about to celebrate their 19th year anniversary on April 19th. They moved to Sun Lakes in 2009 to begin enjoying the semi-retired lifestyle. In his spare time, Mike enjoyed playing golf, skiing and working out. He was a huge fan of all sports and thrived on sarcasm, and there are many “Mike-isms” that will live on through his friends and family.
Mike was survived by his girlfriend Chris, his brother Don, his sister-in law Laura, his sister Deanne, his niece Monica, his nephews Vincent and Steven, as well as his close friends and colleagues.
He was preceded in death by his parents Carol and Donald and his niece Christina.
No services are scheduled at this time.
