Richard P. Banas, 76, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his residence. Richard was born in Hammond, IN, on 6/28/42. He graduated from Indiana State University in 1964 and Wayne State University School of Law in 1968 and was admitted to the Michigan State Bar Association shortly after. He had a successful law practice in Flint for 40 years as a defense attorney. A well respected attorney he represented his clients as if they were family. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley Banas; son, Dr. Jeffrey Banas; daughter, Amy Banas Burnside; son-in-law, Mark Burnside; daughter-in-law, Wendy Schu Banas; four grandchildren, Jordan Banas, Kallan Banas Nicklaus, Megan Burnside, Peyton Burnside; brothers, Thomas Banas and James Banas in Indiana; sister-in-law, Sharon Banas. Rich and Shirley moved to Arizona after they retired to be near their children and grandchildren. It was a move they truly enjoyed.
A Celebration of Life was held Gilbert, Arizona, Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church on May 30, 11:00 a.m.
