

Richard Lewis, 86, of Maricopa, Arizona passed away on February 17th, 2025. Richard was born in Martinsville, Indiana on April 11th, 1938, to parents Flo and Everett Lewis. He graduated from Watseka High School in Watseka, Illinois and American Floral Art School in Chicago, Illinois. He married Carol Deck on August 22nd, 1970, in Kankakee, Illinois and they enjoyed 54 years together. Richard had five children in total. His first three children, Sondra Bertrand, Kendra Appleberry, and Warren Lewis were with his first wife Helen Bolin. Richard and Carol had two sons together, Chris Lewis and Travis Lewis.
Richard was a floral designer and a retail florist for over 40 years. He was a member of Rotary Club and active in the Chamber of Commerce in every town he lived in. Richard participated in and won many floral design contests throughout the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s while he worked for flower shops and when he later ran his own retail flower shops.
While Richard was born and raised in Indiana and Illinois, he lived the majority of his life split between Illinois and Arizona. In addition to floral design, Richard loved to garden, cook for friends and family, travel, and had a passion for family genealogy. While Richard was never wealthy, he was rich with friends, a large family, good food, and always desserts. Richard was a devoted family man and company was always to be expected for holidays, birthdays, or just for fun.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, Flo and Everett Lewis, his sister and her husband, Frances and Ralph Knight, and his brother and his wife, Charles and Isabelle Lewis. Richard is survived by his wife Carol, his children and their spouses: Sondra Bertrand, Kendra Appleberry, Warren and Beth Lewis, Chris and Mari Lewis, and Travis and Margret Lewis. He is also survived by his 18 grandchildren and 8.5 great grandchildren.
