Richard “Dick” McCann was born September 8th, 1956 in Grand Forks, ND to parents, Charles and Margaret McCann. Dick was the oldest of 6 children born to the McCann’s. The family moved from Thompson, ND to Sioux City, IA where he resided until moving to Iowa City, IA for college. Dick attended Immaculate Conception Grade School, Bishop Heelan High School, and The University of Iowa. Dick remained an avid Hawkeye fan until his death, enjoying the rivalry with friends and family that were University of Nebraska fans.
After college, Dick moved to Arizona where he met and married the love of his life, Susie Faz. They were married September 8th, 2001 in Mexico.
Dick’s love of cars eventually led him to work in the car business, starting at Brown and Brown Chevrolet, and at the time of his death was 1/3 owner of Big 3 Automart with partners and friends, Nick Bruce and Richard Walters.
Dick’s love for life and adventure earned him many close friends, taking his side by side and up to 50 friends to the beaches of Mexico, riding from Rocky Point to El Gulfo. Dick and Susie enjoyed their cabin in the AZ mountains that they loved to share with family and friends, to ride quads and watch the wildlife.
Dick is survived by his loving wife Susie of almost 20 years, and a beloved dog named Captain. Brothers, Pat (Jan) McCann, Tom (Kelle) McCann. Sisters, Peggy (Paul) Pechacek, Kathy (Greg) Askins, Janice (Rod) Oligmueller. Susie’s Brothers and Sisters, Hector (Randa) Faz, John (Michelle) Faz, Linda (Larry) Majerus, Sally (Jim) O’Donnell, Ray (Barb) Faz, LoLo (Lois) Faz, Joy Faz. As well as many, many Nieces and Nephews that adored him.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Margaret McCann, and In-Laws, Hector and Juanita Faz.
We will miss his smile and love for life. May he rest in eternal peace.
