Shirley Ann Lindy, 75, went to her heavenly home on January 7, 2019. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her and ultimately gave her peace. Shirley accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at the age of 12.
Shirley was blessed with a devoted and loving family. She married her best friend and partner in life, Fred Lindy, on December 1st, 1963. Together, they lived a wonderful and treasured marriage of 55 years. They have two wonderful daughters, Amy and Janessa.
Born May 11th, 1943 to Clarence and Desmer Day. Her parents were hard working rural tenant farmers in Georgia. They had six children. She is preceded in death by three siblings. Living is one brother, Jerry Day and one sister, Patricia Hardy, both are in poor health and unable to travel.
After schooling, she worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company in Atlanta, GA. After she and Fred were married, they settled in Richmond, Indiana and she began her career as a legal secretary. As they raised their children, she owned her own business as a court transcriptionist. She devoted countless time to her church, volunteering and helping others. Shirley enjoyed basketball, baseball, playing cards, and doing word puzzles. She also had a passion for wedding planning and event coordination. Reading scripture and daily devotions was another cherished staple in her daily life.
Shirley is survived by her husband Fred Lindy, daughters Amy Coday and Janessa Rudolph, Sons in Law, Ed Coday and Troy Rudolph, and 5 grandchildren Samantha Hoover and her husband Adam, Jake Coday, Emily Rudolph, Taylor Rudolph and Tatum Rudolph.
Memorial services will be held at Corona Baptist Church located at 4450 W. Ray Rd. Chandler, AZ 85226 on Saturday, January 26th at 2pm in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley in honor of Shirley Ann Lindy. https://www.hov.org/donate/donate-now/
