

Stanley Alan Williams (90) passed peacefully into the arms of God and his wife Gwen on December 21, 2013. Stan was born May 16, 1923 in Mobridge, South Dakota. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Adah (Henk) Williams, his sister Helen (Trimbath) Williams and his wife of 57 years Gwen Burke Williams. He Stan is survived by his son John B. Williams and his wife Ohn of Phuket, Thailand. His daughter Janet (Williams) Forney, son-in-law Mark and grandsons Blake and Lane Forney of Chandler, Arizona.
Stan graduated HS in 1941 and went to Wooster College in OH for one year before enlisting in the Army where he served for 3 years as a public relations writer both stateside and in the Philippines. After the service, Stanley went onto graduate from Montana State University In 1950 with a degree in Architectural Engineering. Stan and Gwen married in 1955 after meeting briefly at Montana State University, then again in Los Angeles California. They adopted their son John in 1960 and daughter Janet in 1964 and made their homes in Newport Beach and Mission Viejo, California. Stan and Gwen moved to Arizona in 2008 to be closer to Janet and Mark and spend more time with their grandsons. Their son John and wife Ohn would visit as often as time would allow.
Throughout his High school and college years Stan was a member of the Debate team, Sigma Chi Fraternity, men’s Octet and glee club, tennis and football teams. Stan loved being outdoors and throughout his youth he could be found combing the earth for Indian Artifacts and Arrowheads from tribes in and around South Dakota. Stan enjoyed camping and fishing, and remained active in many different sports for as long as his body would allow. During his retirement years, Stan kept his mind and body sharp by being competitive at Bridge, playing golf with friends, and volunteering his time at the local hospital in Mission Viejo.
Stanley loved his life, his family and friends; But most of all, he loved his wife. After Gwen passed in October of 2012 Stan began to rapidly succumb to the symptoms of Parkinson’s and Prostate cancer with which he fought for many years. These diseases eventually took his earthly body, but as he wished, they also took him back into the arms of his beloved.
