

Sylvia Shafer, of Florence, Arizona, passed away on June 30, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on June 10, 1956, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Pablo Munoz and Sarah Espinoza, Sylvia later moved to Arizona, where she graduated from Maricopa High School.
Sylvia dedicated her career to serving the community as a member of the Pinal County Sheriff's Department. She began her career as a Deputy and was later promoted to Detective, exemplifying her loyalty and commitment to her work.
She was an avid reader with a passion for crime mysteries, science fiction, and zombie books and movies. She cherished traveling to Hawaii, visiting Lanai, Maui, and Kauai. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandson Michael. Sylvia also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, such as pizza and beer.
Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Noelle Soliz; her son, Neil Shafer; and her grandson, Michael. She was the oldest of nine siblings, leaving behind her brothers, Pablo Munoz, Oscar Munoz, and John Munoz, and her sisters, Patricia Baugus, Gloria Soliz, Joann Cowger, Bernadette Munoz, and Barbara Munoz.
A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Sylvia on July 26, 2025, at 10:00 am at the Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery, Sunbird Room, located at 10940 E Chandler Heights Road, Chandler, Arizona, 85248. A light lunch reception will be held immediately afterwards in Sylvia's honor.
Sylvia's devoted and loyal nature will be remembered by all who knew her.
