Willie Mae Russey, a kind-hearted and selfless woman, passed away on September 19, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on March 3, 1935, in Boswell, Oklahoma, Willie Mae was known for her hard-working and generous nature. She resided in Chandler, Arizona for 75 years, where she was loved by her neighbors and strangers alike!
Willie Mae was a devoted mother who raised seven kids. She is survived by her children Troy Merry, Linda Robertson, Tammy Bates, Timmie Vaillancourt, Rhonda Raper, and Gary Gilchrist. Her legacy also includes 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom cherish her memory. Willie Mae was preceded in death by her beloved son Doug Holman.
A lover and creator of music, Willie Mae found joy and fulfillment in her personal interests and hobbies. She was a cowgirl at heart! Her thoughtful and selfless spirit was evident in all she did, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew her.
Services to honor Willie Mae's life will be held at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, located at 10940 East Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler, AZ 85248. Services will begin with a Visitation from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Celebration of Life from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. An escorted Special Procession will take Willie Mae past her Chandler home one final time before she is brought to her final resting place back at Valley of the Sun Cemetery.
Willie Mae Russey will be remembered for her thoughtful and generous nature, as well as her enduring love for her family and music. Her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
