Mr. Long served in the US Navy and retired from the United States Postal Service. He could fix anything, loved to figure things out and often used his abilities to help others. He enjoyed spending time with family, Lake Murray, gardening, fishing and doing projects with his John Deere that he called “tractor therapy”. Mr. Long volunteered his services at the Lowman Home and Woodmen of the World. He was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Irmo, SC.
Mr. Long is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cathy Long; sons, Gregg Long (Kelli) and Russ Long (Paige); grandchildren, Jackson Warren (Victoria), Alex Darr and Brice Motley (Arielle); great grandchild, Emerson Davis Warren and siblings, Linda Winchester and Stanley Long. He was predeceased by a brother, Wayne Long.
The family would like to offer their appreciation to MSA Home Health and Hospice and caregivers, Doris Shahid, Ken Charles, Melissa Olsen, Kelli Jo Hamilton and Briana Deans.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Faith Presbyterian Church, 1811 Dutch Fork Road, Irmo, SC 29063. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dementia Society of America at https://www.dementiasociety.org or National Fish and Wildlife Foundation at https://www.nfwf.org.
