

Jean B. Taylor, a native Charlestonian, passed away on August 13, 2014 after a short illness. She was born October 14, 1929 to Ila Carson and Clifford C Bower. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Eugene D. Taylor, brothers Clifford C. Bower Jr. (Clayton) and J. William Bower (Bill). Surviving are children Lisa L. Moore (Joe) and Douglas P. Taylor (Melinda), who reside in Charleston; grandchildren Justin Moore (Jennifer) of Mooresville, NC, Jessica Moore of Oak Creek, WI, Preston Taylor and John-Logan Taylor of Charleston; great grandchild Taylor Massey of Oak Creek, WI: sister Barbara Goff (Dr. Howard – deceased) of Kalamazoo, MI; sister-n-law Mary Lee Bower Gandy of Davidson, NC. Also surviving, special friend and companion Julius (JT) Moore of Charleston. Jean attended Bream Memorial Presbyterian Church from early childhood, where her grandfather James Carson and great-grandfather John Carson were charter members. She was active through the years at Bream as a Sunday School Teacher, choir member, Elder, and serving two terms as clerk of session. She also volunteered through the women’s auxiliary at CAMC, as a Girl Scout leader, and was a member of Charleston Grandparents Club. Jean worked many years as a secretary with law firms of Mohler Peters and Snyder, Kay Casto and Chaney, and Amos & Brotherton; for P.P. Wilson and Mason Crickard of the Charleston National Bank; for WV House of Delegates speakers Julius Singleton, Laban White, and Lewis McManus; and retired from the WV Dept of Education Legal Division. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 1pm at Wilson Funeral Home 420 Lee St. West with the Pastor Bill Tanzey officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston. Visitation will be two hours prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
