Albert S. Fadel, 92.83 years old, passed away on January 4, 2019. He was born on March 8, 1926, in Charlotte, N.C. to Joseph T. Fadel, Jr. and Marie J. Fadel, a Lebanese immigrant family and grew up on McDowell Street during the Depression. He worked at 'Joe's Cafe,' the family business on Brevard Street.
At age 16, he enlisted in the US Navy during WWII and saw combat in the Pacific. Upon discharge, he married his pre-war and wartime sweetheart, the love of his life, Geraldine M. Fadel. He later built and operated with his wife his first restaurant for 15 years. Afterwards, he practiced real estate in Charlotte for 35 years that also included building two strip centers and another restaurant. Albert was self-taught and loved business finance and development. He enjoyed hunting, traveling and most of all his family, which he cherished.
He is survived by his beloved wife Jerry of over 70 years, his son Kim A. Fadel, his wife Jacquelyn S. Fadel, grandsons David A. Fadel and William S. Fadel, his brother Joe Taffy Fadel, III and sister-in-law Geraldine Almond Fadel, and many cousins, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Jeffrey A. Fadel, sisters Elizabeth F. Stavrakas and Louise F. Turner and brother Robert G. Fadel.
He was a lifelong member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church attending the 9am Mass. A Mass of Christian Burial will be officiated by Reverend Frank O'Rourke on Friday, January 11, 2019, at 11:00 am at St. Gabriel located at 3016 Providence Road in Charlotte.
The family will receive friends one hour prior at 10:00 am. Immediately following the funeral service, a graveside service will take place at Sharon Memorial Park located at 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte. (The best entry is via the Sharon Amity Road side entrance, and then turn right and right again to the south side of the cemetery.)
