Alice lived in Charlotte for 84 years. She graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in 1956. In 1960 she graduated from the Woman’s College of The University of North Carolina (now UNCG). In 1986, at age 48, she received a Master’s Degree in Interior Design from Winthrop University.
Her life was well lived and her soul was well loved. In 1959 she married her high school sweetheart, Wayne Forbis. Together they traveled to all 50 states and visited many National Parks. In 1960 she found her “forever friends” with her Bridge club. Together they raised a “village” of children and instilled family traditions that are 4 generations strong. To say she was a sports fanatic was an understatement as she cheered for the original Hornets, UNC Tarheels, and the Carolina Panthers.
Alice and Wayne together restored her father’s 1958 wooden Chris-Craft. Together they traveled to classic and antique boat shows, winning many awards and winning the hearts of many new friends.
Alice is survived by her son, Dean and his wife, Angie, their son Brenden Forbis and wife Lauren, and daughter Courtney; her daughter-in-law, Violeta Forbis, and her children, Cynthia and husband Malcolm Stonehouse, Ari Forbis and wife Amber, Blake Forbis and wife Cassie, and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Daisey Pearson; brother, Everett Pearson Jr; son, Danny Forbis; and great-granddaughters, Adeleen and Laila Forbis.
The family is receiving friends on Saturday, May 6th, from 1:00-1:45 pm at Saint Andrews United Methodist Church where Alice was a long standing member. The memorial service will start at 2:00 pm and a private family burial at Sharon Memorial Park will follow.
In lieu of flowers, consider contributing to the Crisis Assistance Ministry, where she volunteered giving love, laughter and lemonade.
