He was the son of Kenneth A. Christy and Vernice Christy. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War on board the USS Wren.
A well known Barber, he owned and operated the Christy’s Barber Shops Pennsylvania until moving to North Carolina in 1987. Allen was recognized as the first national “Barber of the Year” in 1960.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jane Christy. His children: Bob (Debby) Christy, Kim Christy, and Barb (Ron) McKissick, His grandchildren: Kenneth and Ashley Christy, and Ian and Taylor McKissick, and his 2 great grandsons, Ben and Preston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Betty, and brother Charles “Bert” Christy.
