Andrew was born to Lester and Leona Karp in Marblehead, Massachusetts on January 6, 1961. He graduated from Harvard University in 1983, where he was Managing Editor of the Harvard Crimson, and the University of Virginia School of Law in 1986. Andrew began his career at Cravath, Swain & Moore in New York City before moving to Charlotte in 1994. He served as a leader and innovator at Bank of America, most recently as Global Head of Debt Advisory and Vice Chairman of Debt Capital Markets, for 25 years.
While Andrew was highly respected in investment banking, he was first and foremost a devoted father to his three children, Eliza Dora, Amy Victoria, and Harrison Adam, who mourn his death. Susan Smith Karp of Fredericksburg, Virginia is the mother of his children. Andrew is also survived by his beloved mother, Leona and was preceded in death by his cherished father, Lester.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 7th, at Temple Beth El in Charlotte at 1:00 pm. A private burial will take place on Tuesday, August 9th, at Shirat Hayam in Massachusetts at 10:00 am.
