Anna Mae was born on July 28, 1928 in Pequest, New Jersey to Mae and Harry Everley. She graduated from Washington High School in Washington, New Jersey, in 1945. After graduation she began work as a telephone operator at New Jersey Bell Telephone, which would later be acquired by AT&T. After years of dedicated service she would eventually retire from AT&T in 1986.
She married Sylvester “Buss” Bacorn (a WWII Veteran) in 1947 and gave birth to her first and only child, Judith Lynne Bacorn in 1949.
After retirement, Anna Mae and “Buss” moved from Washington, New Jersey to Spring Hill, Florida where they would spend more than 30 years entertaining new and old friends as well as spoiling their grandchildren every summer.
After Buss’ death, Anna Mae moved to Davidson, North Carolina, to reside with her daughter. She became a member of Davidson College Presbyterian Church after her move to Davidson. She passed away peacefully at home on August 11, 2025. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. (Arguably the best Grammy)
She is survived by her daughter, Judith “Judy” Bacorn Kidd (Davidson, NC) and her grandchildren, Bruce Kidd (Davidson, NC) and Chelsea Kidd (Charlotte, NC), as well as her beloved, gentle, and faithful companion dog, Delta.
Donations can be made in Anna Mae's honor to Bridge of Hearts NC, Angels and Sparrows, Davidson College Presbyterian Church or American Pit Bull Foundation.
