Annie Eliza Liza Bair Bumgardner

Charlotte - Liza Bumgardner, 92, passed away on November 12, 2017. She was born on May 28, 1925 in Orangeburg County, SC, the eldest child of the late Junius and Burness Bair, and beloved wife of her late husband, Hertle Hudson Bumgardner, Jr. (Pat). Liza was preceded in death by her brother, Charles; sisters, Frances Torgerson, Marie Murphy and Bunny Turner; son-in-law, John Keplinger; and great-grandson, Patrick Whitenight.

Liza came to Charlotte as a 17 year old, where she eventually met and married the love of her life, Pat Bumgardner, in 1947. She was very active in her community and volunteered wherever she was needed. She was a founding member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, where she was very active. She worked at Delmar Printing Company as administrator of the pressroom.

Liza is survived by her children, Marlene Keplinger of Richmond, TX, Larry Bumgardner of Charlotte, Janice Bumgardner of Charlotte, Kenneth Bumgardner (Julie) of Charlotte, Tom Bumgardner of Charlotte, and Rita Banks (Michael) of Monroe, NC; her siblings, Faye Boone of Charlotte, Grace Stallings of Cordova, TN, David Bair (Christine) of Orangeburg, SC, Sybil Henkel of Trinity, NC, and Judi Pridgen of Shallotte, NC; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017 in the chapel of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Rd., Charlotte.

The Prayer Service to honor her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 18th in the Harry and Bryant chapel, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
