A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19th in the Paul Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Barbara was born in McDowell County, NC February 10, 1935 daughter of the late James Calvin and Connie Evans Hensley. She was a member of Durham Memorial Baptist Church, Joy Sunday School Class, a 1954 graduate of Marion, NC High School and retired from Thurston Motor Lines as a Receptionist and File Clerk.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Daryl Carpenter; son, Mike Odom; step-sons, Jeff Carpenter of Mt. Holly, NC and Brian Carpenter (Annette) of Salisbury, NC, and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be made to Durham Memorial Baptist Church, 1601Toddville Road, Charlotte, NC, 28214. Honorary pallbearers will be the Joy Sunday School Class.
