

Born April 14, 1929 in York, England, Mrs. Erga was the daughter of the late Joseph Arthur Parkin and Amy Terry Parkin. She received a nursing degree in Home Health Care in England; however, after beginning her family she dedicated herself fulltime to being a devoted wife and mother. After her children were raised, she worked as a substitute teacher at McClintock Junior High School.
Mrs. Erga was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and a former member of the Sons of Norway.
She is remembered for her love of reading (a good mystery), knitting, cross stitchery and travel (both international and domestic), as well as her love for dogs, chocolate and a cold glass of white wine.
Mrs. Erga’s family includes four children, Helene Erga Lipe (Ron) of Columbia, SC, Margaret Erga of High Point, NC, Rolf Erga (Diane) of New Brunswick, NJ and John Erga of Greensboro, NC; and her grandchildren Catherine Lipe (Sylvain Masson) of New York, NY, Robert Lipe (Anna Bright) of Columbia, SC, Benjamin Erga of Fort Collins, CO and Joshua Erga of Opelika, AL; as well as her brother, Bill Parkin (Audrey) of Leeds, England.
Her husband, Reidar Erga, and a son, Robert Erga, preceded her in death.
A service to celebrate Mrs. Erga’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 6th at Christ Lutheran Church, 4519 Providence Road. Her family will receive friends at the church following the service.
