Barbara Lyn Simons, 71, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away in her home on May 19, 2025. Born and raised in Charlotte, Lyn spent her life in the city she called home, surrounded by the people and places she loved.
Lyn was a devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished friend whose warmth and wit brought joy to everyone who knew her. A true people-person, she lit up every room she entered with her radiant smile, quick humor, and genuine interest in others.
She poured her heart into raising her two daughters, Whitney Simons Parker and Barbara Branch, caring for them with love, strength, and unwavering dedication during their formative years. She built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and resilience—memories of those years remain a lasting testament to the deep love she had for her girls.
Lyn was a lifelong member of Christ Episcopal Church Charlotte. Lyn found happiness in the simple, peaceful moments of life—especially swimming at the club, where she felt most connected. She loved traveling, being near the ocean, eating out at the newest restaurant in town, and bringing curiosity and joy to every experience. She also adored her cat, Buster, and often spoke of him as a beloved companion.
Lyn is survived by her daughters: Whitney Simons Parker of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Barbara Parker Branch and her husband Giles Branch, also of Mount Pleasant. She was “Hula” to her two granddaughters, Grace Branch and Audrey Ellis Branch, who brought her joy in her later years. She was preceded in death by her parents William B. Simons and Barbara Lynn Simons.
She will be remembered for the love she gave, the strength she carried, and the legacy of family she leaves behind.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
