Betty Austin Threatt, 85, of Charlotte died peacefully on January 15, 2021 at home. Born March 12, 1935, in Union County, NC she was the daughter of the late William Marvin Austin and Grace Penegar Austin. She was a graduate of Central High School. She was employed with the Charlotte Mecklenburg school system, the S&W, and Barclay’s as a cafeteria worker where she was loved by many. Mrs. Threatt was a member of King’s Cross ARP Church (formerly Craig Ave. Tabernacle ARP Church).
Mrs. Threatt had a special spot in her heart for all of her nieces and nephews, particularly Andy Rowe and his daughters Georgia Grace and Cora Christine.
Mrs. Threatt enjoyed fishing, NASCAR racing and road trips with her husband and best friend Bobby Threatt. Betty was a very caring and compassionate person and made friends wherever she went. She particularly had a passion for flowers, all things Elvis, sparkly jewelry, Coca Cola, cheeseburgers, angels, and butterflies.
The graveside service to celebrate the life of Betty Threatt will be held on Monday, January 18 at 2:00 p.m. at Sharon Memorial Park with the Rev. Howard Penegar, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends after the graveside service.
Survivors include her sister Peggy Rowe, brother-in-law John Rowe, nephew Andy Rowe (wife Claire, and daughters Georgia Grace and Cora Christine) and Aunt Lula Mae Austin.
Mrs. Threatt was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, mother Grace P. Austin and father William Marvin Austin.
