Catherine Lucille (Kuhn) Bleacher

Our beloved “Mother/Nanny/Great Nanny” was proudly born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Soon after graduating high school, she fell in love and married her late husband Richard Gerald Bleacher Sr. on February 28, 1960. Mrs. Bleacher was a proud and supportive military wife and traveled the world with her husband while raising four children. Nanny loved spending time with and doting on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her Christmas gift giving was legendary, and her generosity knew no bounds when it came to her family. One of Mrs. Bleacher’s favorite things to do and one of her greatest talents was to bake and decorate delicious cakes for special occasions and for people she loved.

Mrs. Bleacher is preceded in death by her father, John Kuhn; mother, Marie Kuhn; brothers, John Kuhn, William Kuhn, Vince Kuhn, James Kuhn, and Michael Kuhn; sisters, Helen Hubley and Betty Haldeman; son in law, Rick McIntosh; and granddaughter, Sabrina McIntosh.

She is survived by children, Richard Bleacher Jr. (Elaine), Gerald Bleacher (Josei-lyn), Catherine McIntosh (Rick deceased), Angela Zinkann (Paul); grandchildren, Sara Johnikin (John), Robin Law (Kaleb), Crystal Bosarge (David), David Bleacher, Michelle Bleacher (Johnny), Matthew Bleacher (Marie), Christy Smith (Gary), Sokia Bleacher, Shane Bleacher, LaNell Jones (Riggs), Ashley Casarella (Jordan), Janice Pruitt (Travis), Brittney Trevathan (Ryan), Rikki Shull (Corey), Trey McIntosh (Sydney), Joey Zinkann (Ashlee), Michael Zinkann, and Anna Atwell (Rob); and sister, Annie Diffenderfer.

She leaves behind an incredible legacy of twenty-six great grandchildren and one on the way…

The family would like to thank Carolina Caring and the wonderful and loving care provided to our beloved Nanny. We would like to especially thank the nursing team of Evonna B., Towander A., and Victoria M. Your compassionate care gave us more comfort than you know, and it will never be forgotten.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at McEwen Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28262. Funeral service will immediately follow. Catherine will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery, 4426 Central Ave, Charlotte, NC 28205, on April 14, 2026.
