Catherine Greene MacKelfresh

Catherine was born on July 4, 1921 in Coldwater, MI, a daughter of the late Ronald and Louise Greene. The family moved to the Asheville, NC area when she was young, and survived the depression. She was married to the late George MacKelfresh, who was a World War II veteran, which brought her to Miami, FL, where she contributed to the war effort. After the war, she settled in Charlotte, NC, where she pursued her passions of art and charity, at such notable places as the International House, the Mint Museum, and the Delhomme Service League. She attended Queens College.

Catherine is survived by her son Richard MacKelfresh and wife Rona; grandson Richard with wife Jamie and great-grandchildren Stella, Scarlet, and Sanders; grandson Andrew with great-grandchildren Serafina and Violet; and grandson Robert with wife Megan and great-grandchildren London and Eloise.

The visitation will be held on Monday, September 22, 2014 from 12 until 12:45 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1 o’clock in the Chapel of Harry & Bryant, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte, with Reverend Rush Otey officiating. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia.
