Cecilia Adams Pence, of Charlotte, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Southminster.

She was born September 6, 1942 in Charlotte, North Carolina, daughter of the late Cecil and Dot Rankin Adams.

She graduated from Harding High School in 1960 and was voted “friendliest”. She maintained many relationships later in life thru the HHS Alumni Association. Cecilia was an active and longtime member of Ascension Lutheran Church where she volunteered with the preschool and Room at the Inn program along with countless others. She was outgoing and deeply devoted to her family and was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her loving husband of 50 years, Ronald Pence; children, Melanie Pence Broome and husband Al Broome, Howard Pence and wife Julie Pence, and Allison Pence; four grandchildren, Natalie and Christian Broome and Carson and Jackson Pence; sister, Donna Hager and husband Bruce; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 am until 1:00 PM Friday, February 22, 2013 at the church.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, February 22, 2013 at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1225 E. Morehead Street, Charlotte, NC 28204 with the Reverend Eric O. Miller officiating with a reception directly following. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park 3:30 PM Friday, February 22, 2013.

The family would like to thank Levine and Dickson Hospice House and Fresenius Dialysis for the wonderful care given to Cecilia.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church, 1225 E. Morehead Street, Charlotte, NC 28204.
