Dave Phipps, 67, of Charlotte, died at his residence on May 28, 2010. He was born in Bristol, TN, resided in Albany, NY, and then came to Charlotte. Dave retired from Sherwin Williams. He will be remembered by his love of people and great sense of humor. Dave was a loving husband father, grandfather, and friend to many. Coach loved all sports especially the Panthers, Charlotte Hornets and March Madness.
Survivors include his wife Alberta “Bertie” Phipps of Charlotte, NC; daughter Nancy Bruss and husband Todd; three grandchildren, Connor, David and Max; sister Rosa Lee Nelson and brother James Phipps; "Uncle Gooney" had many special nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at McEwen Funeral Service Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210 with Rev. J.A. Harbison officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
