Dennis Robert Glover, 81, passed away peacefully in his home in Charlotte, on September 6, 2018, with his loving wife Ethel and family by his side. Born in New Milford, PA on November 24, 1936 to his parents, the late Edward Charles Glover and Louise Elizabeth Burg Glover, Dennis attended Montrose High School and graduated in 1955. He was drafted into the United States Army and served 1960 – 1962. He was in the Reserves from 1965 – 1970. While in the army he took a trip with friend to Alabama, which is where he met and married the love of his life, Ethel Rene Hill Glover. Dennis and Ethel resided in Binghamton, New York where they started a family four handsome sons Roger, Dennis, Randy, and Phillip; as well as, two beautiful daughters Rene and Pamela. In 1979 Dennis, Ethel, and children relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina where they reside.
Dennis had a love for God, family, sports and anything political, a faithful and devoted husband, father, and grandpa. He was a true man of faith. Since the age of 16 he was dedicated to fasting the forty days during Lent even until his last days. Dennis spent a lot of time reading up on things worldwide. He was very intellectual and shared a genuine interest in any subject matter. He was a genuine, wise, and kind man, who never met a stranger. Known for his humility, warmth and graciousness, Dennis will be missed by all those he had come to know.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis E. Glover, Father Edward C. Glover, Mother Louise E. Glover, Brothers Charles Glover and Richard Glover, Sisters Nancy Powell, Joan Chatman, Denise Hightower and Gail Glover.
He is survived by his ever loving wife of 57 years, Ethel Rene Hill Glover; sons, Roger V. Glover, Randy V. Glover, Phillip R. Glover (Loletha), daughters Rene D. Glover, Pamela B. Stowe (Killian) all of Charlotte and sister Phyllis E. Taylor of Binghamton, New York.
He also leaves behind 13 Grandchildren, Jordi, Randie (Briana) Jade, Jessica (Rickie) Victor, Alissa, Killian Jr., Sareniah, Ciara, Roger Jr., and Kailee. 9 Great Grandchildren, Keenan, Jordan, Tyler, Jordi Jr., Vance, Stephen, Maci, Janson, and Nehemyah, all of whom he was exceptionally proud of; Goddaughter, Tonya C. Jones, and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cemetery.
