Doris S. Edwards

Doris Starnes Edwards, age 83 of Charlotte departed this life on September 25, 2015. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 29th at Christ United Methodist Church, Reverends Jim Humphries and Donnie Mitchem officiating. A visitation will be from 5:00-7:00PM on Monday, September 28th at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home, 460l Freedom Drive. Mrs. Edwards was born in Charlotte November 13, 1931 daughter of the late William Franklin and Gertrude Porter Starnes. She was a member of Christ UMC, Joe Reeves Sunday School Class, member of the Methodist Women and a graduate of Thomasboro High School. Throughout her life her sense of style in her dress and her manner set her apart. Doris had a host of devoted friends. She brightened the lives of everyone who came in contact with her and she bore her final illness with dignity and grace. Doris will be dearly missed and her family will feel her presence each day. How fortunate we were to have her in our lives. Surviving are two sons, Barry Edwards and wife Trish of Huntersville, NC and Danny Edwards of Charlotte, grandchildren, Meagan, Shannon and Allison, one brother, Sam Starnes of Concord, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ervin Lee (Boolie) Edwards and one sister and three brothers. Special thanks to her loving caregiver, Sharon Brooks.
