Doris retired as an accounting clerk from the city of Charlotte. She was a lifelong member of Durham Memorial Baptist Church.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Reid Ellis; son, Brian Keith Ellis; and sister, Myrtis Gigstead.
She is survived by her sons, Darrell Reid Ellis and wife Susan, and Forrest Dean Ellis and wife Deborah; sister, Bonnie Thomas; brother, Col. Roy Brown; also seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Anita Slaughter for the years she spent helping Doris.
Graveside service will be held on Monday, November 19 at 11:00am in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Dr. David Turner to officiate. A visitation will take place prior to the service at 10:00am at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home.
