“Dot”

Dorothy Simpkins Milam, age 92, of Charlotte went to be with her Lord Wednesday, June 19, 2013.

She was born June 13, 1921 in Raleigh, North Carolina the daughter of the late Isaac Wade and Anne Brigman Simpkins.

She was a loving mother, grandmother sister and aunt. She lived for her family. She loved golf, gardening and Wednesday night “Bridge Club”. She was a devoted member of Carmel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Bee Milam and sisters, Joyce Simpkins and Jean Bearden.

She is survived by her sons, Wade Milam (Nadine), J. B. Milam (Hannah), and Ike Milam (Cindy); daughter, Joanne Miller (Danny), sister, Lynn McGinn; eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11:30 AM Saturday, June 22, 2013 at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at Brighton Gardens, 5th floor at CMC Pineville and Levine and Dickson Hospice House- Southminster for the wonderful care that Dot received.
