Born April 9, 1937 in the Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of the late Morris Kosches and the late Lena Leff Kosches. She grew up in New York City and spent summers in Lake Mohegan, NY, where she met Don. Edith received a degree in Dental Hygiene and was a dental hygienist before having her children. Later, she raised her children in Potomac, Maryland. When her children were older she studied Interior Design. She and Don were fortunate to travel the world and then retired happily in Bluffton, SC for 20 years before moving to the Charlotte, NC area.
Edith was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished her family more than anything. She loved to host and attend family events and holiday meals. Edith was also creative and made many lovely paintings, drawings, sculptures and ceramics over the years. The family will treasure her art and recipes. But most of all they will remember her kindness to all and her big heart.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Avedon; two children, Roy Avedon (Patti) of Bluffton, SC and Marcia Avedon (Charles Farrar) of Mooresville, NC; and four beloved grandchildren, Monica Farrar Miller (Garret), Alden Farrar, Mitchell Avedon, and Spencer Avedon; one great-grandson, Grayson Miller; as well as her sister Janet Winegarden (Joel) of Hunt Valley, MD.
Due to Covid restrictions, a limited attendance funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday January 18th at the Hebrew Cemetery in Charlotte, North Carolina.
