Edward Duncan Connell Sr.

Edward D. Connell, Sr. of Charlotte went home to be with the Lord on October 29, 2016. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church, 10301 Harwood Lane Charlotte, NC 28214 with Reverends Jack Homesley and Tony Harper officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, 4601 Freedom Dr. Charlotte, NC 28208. Mr. Connell was born May 21, 1923 to the late Reuben & Leola Connell of Mint Hill, NC. Edward was a former member of Greenland Ave. Baptist Church and presently a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He taught Sunday School for almost 70 years and served as a deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, choir member and various other committees. He served in the 8th Army Air Corp during WW II from 1942-1945. Mr. Connell was employed as a salesman at Charlotte Tractor for over 50 years. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth "Lib" Griffin Connell; brothers, Barron Connell & Joe Connell; sisters, Connie Ownbey & Polly Hanline. Mr. Connell is survived by: his sons, Edward D. Connell Jr. & wife Karen of Concord, NC and Kenneth W. Connell of Charlotte, NC; sister-in-law, Nancy Lee Connell and several nieces & nephews. In addition to flowers memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 2727 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Rd. Charlotte, NC 28214.
