
Edward Harvey McIntosh, Jr., 69, was welcomed into Heaven on April 10, 2026. He joins parents Edward H McIntosh, Sr. and Ann R Wallace; sons Justin Edward McIntosh and Benjamin Alan McIntosh; in—laws David E Stewart and Mildred S Benfield; sisters-in-law Vickie S Rickard and Rosemarie (Rosie) H Stewart; brother-in-law D Ronald Stewart; grandparents Melvin McIntosh and Sinah McIntosh, Pearl Robinson; aunt Frances R Hice; uncle Robert H Hice.
Ed is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann Stewart McIntosh; sister Elizabeth (Beth) Crews; sister Susan Murdock (Dave); brother Christopher (Chris) McIntosh (Robin); sister- in-law Sandy Stewart Kelly (Jim); nieces Deborah Ballentine (Andrew), April Swafford (Matt Young), Meagan Crews (Ryan Pettit), and Katie Murdock; nephews Michael Stewart (Kristi), Jeremy Stewart, Ryan Crews, and Derek Murdock (Kala); uncles Melvin McIntosh (Anita), Ted McIntosh (Sandra); many loved great and great-great nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was born in Charlotte, NC and graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in 1974 where he was in Air Force ROTC program. He continued Air Force ROTC at Wingate University. After completing his freshman year, reaching a full height of 6’4”, he was told he was too tall to fly reconnaissance. He started working toward what he originally planned as a second career, owning his own auto parts store. He worked in foreign and domestic auto parts, and heavy vehicle parts. In 1992, he purchased his first Carquest auto parts store in Marion, NC followed by a second Carquest store in Concord, NC in 1998.
The Green Bay Packers was Ed’s favorite football team, and his favorite baseball team was the LA Dodgers. He enjoyed watching sports and playing sports like baseball, football, basketball and golf. He enjoyed a variety of music, and played lead and bass guitar, and drums/percussion. Woodworking was a self-taught hobby, and Ed enjoyed making furniture and specialty pieces. He enjoyed a good laugh, great clean jokes, and was a prolific storyteller.
Ed was a member of CFA/Multiply Church in Concord, NC for 22 years. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Monroe, NC since 2021. He and his wife Ann have been greatly blessed by the excellent preaching, pastoral staff and music at church, and particularly by the Pilgrim’s discipleship class.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2026, beginning at 1pm at Hopewell Baptist Church Legacy Campus, 420 Hopewell Church Road, Monroe with a celebration of his life beginning at 1:30 pm. Graveside will be private for family at Sharon Memorial Park.
