E.L. "Judge" Lane Jr.

Mr. Lane, age 82, of Charlotte passed away March 17, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born June 8, 1928 in Princess Ann County, Virginia the son of the late Elbert L. Lane Sr. and Nettie Brothers Lane. He is preceded in death by a granddaughter Angie Walker.

Mr. Lane was a longtime member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church and was active with the Methodist Men’s group. Judge had a long career of 35 years with Dow Chemical Company as a salesman and later Regional Sales Manager.He was an avid golfer and loved spending time in his yard and admiring the flowers. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.

Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Katie Lane; sons, Don Lane (Cherry) and Chris Lane (Katharine); daughters, Linda Lane and Brenda Lane; grandchildren, Jimmy, Devin, Patrick and Meredith; great grandchildren, Mitzi and Tristan; sister, Patricia A. Banks; brother, Howard Eugene Lane; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM Sunday, March 20, 2011 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, March 21, 2011 at Cokesbury United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Presbyterian Hospice and Palliative Care, 200 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, NC 28207, or Cokesbury United Methodist Church, 6701 Idlewild Road, Charlotte, NC 28212.
