

Charlotte – Evelyn S. Berger, 94, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 17, 2017. She is survived by her son, Lance Berger and his wife Leslie; her three grandchildren, Dory Fleischman and her husband Jeff, Adam Kane and his wife Stephanie, and Allison Berger; and her three great-grandchildren, Jacob and Emily Kane and Jack Fleischman. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Jane Berger Kane; her loving husband, Leonard; and her great-grandson, Elijah Fleischman.
Evelyn was born on April 19, 1923 in Wilkes-Barre, PA to Abe and Ann Salzburg. She and Leonard were married on January 12, 1944. Evelyn worked for the United States government as a Federal Court Stenographer from 1961 until her retirement in 1985. After retirement, she spent her free time advocating for senior rights and served on the North Carolina Senior Legislature, for which she received multiple awards and recognition for her service.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, November 20, 2017 in the chapel of Harry & Bryant, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte. Interment will follow at the Hebrew Cemetery.
