Frances Vinson Bryant

Charlotte - Frances Vinson Bryant died peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones on February 24, 2017. She was born on November 19, 1926 in Goldsboro, NC, daughter of the late David John Vinson and the late Annie Laurie Warrick Vinson.

Mrs. Bryant came to Charlotte to work for Union National Bank, where, after the war, she met the love of her life, Donald G. Bryant. Like her husband, Mrs. Bryant loved Charlotte and had a lifetime of service in the community. Her many talents allowed her to skillfully serve as President of the Junior League of Charlotte, President of the Charlotte Speech and Hearing Center, and Residential Chairman of the United Way of Charlotte. She also served on the Foundation of the Carolina's Board and chaired its Distribution Committee and recently sat on the Scholarship Committee. Mrs. Bryant was Chairman of the Southminster Foundation and served as a Board member. She was an active and honorary member of the Charlotte Debutante Club.

Mrs. Bryant had a great love of family and friends and will be remembered for her graciousness to all. Unfailing kindness, warmth and genuine concern for others are her legacy.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Donald Grant Bryant, and her sister, Margaret McClenny. Survivors include her daughters, Melissa Bryant and Cameron Icard (Tom); grandchildren, Cameron Graeber, Bryant Graeber, Thomas Icard and Lillian Icard (Julien Conan); and her niece, Marie Edwards.

The family wishes to thank Patti Johnson and Grace Martinez for their extraordinary care and attention.

A service to celebrate the life of Frances Bryant will be held at Myers Park Baptist Church on Friday, March 3 at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends in Heaton Hall following the service. Interment will be private.
