Frank Delmus Holmes

Frank D. Holmes CHARLOTTE - Frank D. Holmes, age 85, of Charlotte, passed away Saturday night, July 4, 2015 . Frank served in the U.S. Airforce and afterward he started working for Thurston Motor Lines as a driver and dispatcher. After 35 years he went to work for the US Postal Service as a driver and then a mechanic for 19 years and loved people. He loved to talk and share his knowledge with others and enjoyed serving his church family through various roles as Deacon, serving on the Building Committee and Maintenance, and also through mission trips. In earlier years, he enjoyed driving the bus for the mission trips and senior groups. He was preceded in death by his wife Janeen Medlin Holmes of 35 years and one brother, two sisters, his parents. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Holmes; sons, Timothy D. Holmes Sr. (Therese) Holmes, of Clover, South Carolina, Kevin W. (Danna) Holmes, of Bartlett, Tennessee; daughters, Susan Sims (Ken), of Concord, North Carolina, Alison Holmes (Jamie), of Statesville, North Carolina; step-daughter, Debbie Miller (Perry), of Charlotte; grandchildren, Timothy Jr. and Hannah Holmes, of SC, Lauren Holmes, of CA, Janie, Kolton, and Karson Holmes, of TN, Dallas, Owen and Griffin Sims, of NC; and step-grandchildren, Devin and Shelby Miller, of NC. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 8, at Eastway Baptist Church, 2749 Eastway Drive, Charlotte, NC 28205, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Pastor Johnny Helms and The Rev. Dick Howie officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to Eastway Baptist Church, 2749 Eastway Drive, Charlotte, NC 28205. He will sorely missed by all!
